This is one of the instances of local scalped cornices that grates on me the most, probably because the contrast between what was and what is is highlighted. (Norman Avenue & Eckford St., Greenpoint)
Here's another example ( also on Norman, a few blocks down).
This one is extra-depressing one too--a nice clean line, until that jarring brick crew-cut at the end (Nassau Ave).
